Code of Conduct

Dance is an art form built on discipline, respect, and tradition. Our Code of Conduct ensures that every student, parent, teacher, and visitor contributes to a safe, positive, and professional environment where all dancers can thrive.

Mareeba Academy of Dance reserves the right to refuse admittance to any person who jeopardizes this atmosphere. Disrespectful or disruptive behaviour—whether by students, parents, carers, family members, staff, or volunteers—will not be tolerated and may result in immediate dismissal from the Academy without refund.

Respect and Behaviour

  • Students are expected to treat teachers, classmates, and staff with courtesy and respect at all times.
  • Parents and carers are expected to maintain respectful communication with staff. Aggressive, inflammatory, or disrespectful conduct may result in dismissal of the student from the program.
  • Bullying, harassment, or intimidation—by students, parents, or any associated party—will not be tolerated. Under Australian law, such behaviour may result in immediate removal from the school.

Student Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time (5–10 minutes before class) prepared to change and stretch.
  • Notify Miss Regan in advance if you will be late or absent.
  • Wear the correct class uniform with no substitutions.
  • Maintain proper grooming:
    • Hair must be neat and secured away from the face.
    • A ballet bun is required for all ballet and pointe classes.
    • No jewellery or nail polish (small stud earrings permitted).
  • Conduct yourself in a way that supports a positive learning environment.
    • Disruptive behaviour, chronic tardiness, or failure to follow rules may result in dismissal.
  • Respect all studio property and equipment (e.g., no leaning on barres, no handling of sound system).
